Production and Characterization of Electromagnetic Wave Absorbing Barium Hexaferrite Ceramics

Barium ferrite ceramics will be synthesized for use as electromagnetic (EM) wave absorbing materials. As the first step, the undoped and/or chemically modified powders will be produced to obtain isotropic ferrite ceramic tiles. The free-space and waveguide measurement methods will be used on these ferrite tiles with a vector network analyzer to determine the EM wave absorption of the synthesized ceramics. Results of these two measurement methods will be compared for these isotropic ceramics. Finally, textured ceramics will be obtained by tape casting method and the electromagnetic characterization of the anisotropic ceramics will be conducted by the use of the free-space method.
