Electrocodeposition is the process of particle incorporation during the electrolytic deposition of metals. This process produces composite films consisting of a metallic matrix containing a dispersion of small particles. The applications of these coatings include wear and abrasion resistant surfaces, lubrication, high hardness tools, dispersion-strengthened alloys and protection against aggressive environments. Various metal-particle pair will be used to demonstrate the effects of process variables such as electrolyte composition, temperature, pH, current density and particle characteristics on the properties of codeposited composite. The aim of the study is to optimize frictional properties and internal stress values of electrocodeposited materials.
