Influence of High Temperature DCAP Process on the Mechanical Properties of 6061 Al-Alloy Sheet

Supervisor(s): Dr. Bilgehan ÖGEL & Dr. C. Hakan GÜR

Materials with ultrafine-grained (UFG) structures can be produced by imparting high plastic strains. ECAP, one of the popular severe plastic deformation method is industrially inapplicable for continuous deformation. Dissimilar channel angular pressing (DCAP) is one of the promising techniques used for sheet or strip deformation. In this process, the specially designed die enables the multi-pass operation to take place in a continuous manner.
The aim of this study is to investigate the enhancement in mechanical properties of 6061 Al-alloy sheets that are subjected to DCAP. A DCAP system was manufactured which is capable of deforming 110x250x2mm size sheets. Three deformation temperatures was selected, namely 25°C, 100°C and 200°C, to investigate the effect of deformation temperature.
