Reduction of Silicon Dioxide by Electrochemical Deoxidation

The objective of this research is to produce silicon from SiO2 by electrodeoxidation in molten salt solutions. Commercial production techniques of silicon involve several steps and very high temperatures. This new method enables the production of Si in solid state and at relatively low temperature.
