Characterization of Electromagnetic Wave Absorbing Properties of Ceramic Woven-Reinforced Multilayer Composites
Supervisor: Dr. Arcan F. DERİCİOĞLU
The aim of the study is to produce electromagnetic wave absorbing ceramic woven fabric-reinforced multilayer composites and evaluate their electromagnetic wave absorbing properties. SiC based as well as Al2O3 woven fabrics will be used as the reinforcement in a polymeric matrix. Optimum multilayer composite configuration in terms of the layer order, number of layers and composite thickness will be determined by computer modeling. Surface treatment will be conducted on ceramic woven fabrics to obtain improved electromagnetic wave absorbing properties in a wide frequency range. Then the dielectric properties of the composite will be measured using free-space method in order to characterize the electromagnetic wave absorbing potential of ceramic woven fabric-reinforced multilayer composites.
