Development of Barium Ferrite Materials For Radar Absorption
Supervisor: Dr. Özlem Hatice ÇİVİ & Dr. Muharrem TİMUÇİN
The reduction of electromagnetic backscatter with the use of radar absorbing material (RAM) has important implications in the field of radar and electromagnetic compatibility. The aim of this study is to develop BaFe12O19 materials for radar absorption purposes. Chemical composition of basic ferrite will be modified by substitutions of elements like Ti, Co, Ni, and so on in order to obtain a wide dispersion in the EM absorption spectrum. The crystal structure of the developed materials will be correlated with EM characteristics. Radar absorbing materials will be manufactured in the form of sintered ceramic tiles or as polymer-ceramic composites in which the ceramic will be in the form of powder dispersion.
