Modelling of Formation of Bulk Nanostructured Materials by Severe
Plastic Deformation |
Supervisor: Dr. C. Hakan GÜR |
|
Heavy
deformations like cold rolling or drawing, can result in significant
refinement of the microstructure at low temperatures. Formation of
such nanostructures could be achieved by severe plastic deformation
methods providing very large deformations at relatively low temperatures under the high pressures imposed. A one common example of these methods is equal channel angular pressing. The aim of the
study is to design and build a computer model for simulation of the
formation of nanostructured bulk materials by severe plastic
deformation methods achieved by equal channel angular pressing. To
achieve the aim, finite element method will be used. The model
constructed will also consider the severe plastic deformation
process parameters like loading type and condition, die geometry and
angle, die friction factors, strain rates, material properties, and
their effect on the process efficiency. The microstructural
changes will also be studied. |
